Chelsea welcome Everton to Stamford Bridge in Saturday’s early kick-off as they look to keep their Champions League hopes alive. The Blues currently sit sixth in the Premier League, just two points behind Newcastle United in fifth, the final Champions League qualification spot.

With only four points separating third-placed Manchester City and seventh-placed Aston Villa, the race for Europe is tighter than ever this season. Chelsea, along with Man City, Nottingham Forest, Newcastle, and Villa, are battling for just three Champions League spots.

Last weekend’s 2-1 comeback win against Fulham was a much-needed boost for a Chelsea side that has shown flashes of brilliance but struggled with consistency for the past few months. That result should inject confidence ahead of this clash with a resurgent Everton team under David Moyes.

The recent return of key players Nicolas Jackson, Cole Palmer, Roméo Lavia and Noni Madueke has come at the perfect time, giving Chelsea a stronger attacking edge. Meanwhile, the emergence of youngster Tyrique George, who scored the equaliser before Pedro Neto’s superb winner against Fulham, offers a glimpse into the promising depth in the squad.

Here, we’ve got you covered with everything you need to know ahead of Chelsea vs Everton, in a comprehensive preview.

Form guide

Everton

Everton suffered a 2-0 defeat to reigning Premier League champions Manchester City in their last outing at Goodison Park, marking their first home loss since Gameweek 21, when they fell 1-0 to Aston Villa.

David Moyes’ side has been hard to beat, drawing six of their last ten league matches, with two wins and two defeats. On the road, the Toffees have been solid, winning two, drawing two, and losing just once in their last five away fixtures, with that defeat coming in the Merseyside derby against Liverpool.

Chelsea

Chelsea, on the other hand, came back from a goal down against London rivals, Fulham, to claim 2-1 victory at Craven Cottage, in a highly pulsating game.

Maresca's side has won five of their last six home games, claiming clean sheets in three of them. Chelsea is a different animal at home, having conceded 17 goals at home this season, the fifth best in the league. With Champions League qualification on the line, the stakes couldn’t be higher for the home side.

Chelsea vs Everton head-to-head

Chelsea and Everton have met 65 times in the Premier League:

Chelsea wins: 29

Everton wins: 14

Draws: 22

Chelsea have won two of the last five, Everton won one and two ended in draws. Both teams have scored only once in the last five encounters between the two sides.

Prediction

Chelsea are facing serious challenges from Manchester City, Newcastle United, Nottingham Forest and Aston Villa for the top five positions required to secure Champions League football next season. The late win against Fulham is still fresh in memory and should provide a timely confidence boost for the Chelsea players in this high-stakes encounter.

Added to that, Chelsea have not lost against Everton at home since 1994, which remains the longest against any Premier League opponent. Chelsea is also averaging more shots at home this season than any other Premier League side.

Everton, on the other hand, have managed to win one in their last eight and are only playing for pride with their position in the league next season confirmed and no European football in sight.

Interestingly, all the last seven Premier League games of Everton ended with under 2.5 goals and four of Chelsea's last six games ended in under 2.5 goals. That points to a low-scoring encounter in the early kick-off this Saturday.

SCORE PREDICTION: Chelsea 1-0 Everton
