Chelsea have switched to a policy of bringing in young, emerging talents over proven and experienced players, following the ownership change. As a result, the Blues now have one of the youngest squads in the Premier League, and alos the most talented. And it does not look like they plan to change their strategy, despite how often it has been criticised.

In the latest transfer window, Chelsea signed a number of promising players, including Liam Delap, Joao Pedro, Jorrel Hato, Jamie Gittens, and Alejandro Garnacho, all of whom are under the age of 23. Additionally, plenty of players left.

So, it’s quite clear that the club are sticking to their strategy of relying on youth. And new reports are suggesting that Chelsea are keeping an eye on a 17-year-old midfielder from Ajax, who has caught the attention of all the top teams in European football.

According to Caught Offside, scouts from Barcelona, Real Madrid, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Manchester United are all keeping a close eye on his progress of Jorthy Mokio. For now, Ajax are keen to keep him but offers in the region of €25-30 million could see them reconsider their stance.

Mokio joined Ajax last season. He has a contract running until 2027 with the club. Although there’s little doubt regarding his potential, as has already appeared in five matches for the Dutch club this season, Chelsea might want to give preference to their academy talents first before taking a final decision and proceeding with any deals involving the Belgian in the future.

Additionally, there’s also the fact that Mokio operates in the central defensive midfield area. Chelsea already have players like Moises Caicedo, Romeo Lavia, and Dario Essugo for that role.

All things considered, these are just rumours at this point. The transfer window is still far away, and a lot of football is to be played in between. Chelsea face Bayern Munich next as they kick off their Champions League campaign this season. Fans are expecting nothing less than a win from Enzo Maresca’s side to announce the club’s return to the competition with style.
