Chelsea have been really busy scouting and bringing in new talents to the club since the BlueCo Group took over. While this policy of signing mostly youngsters has backfired on some occasions, it seems to be bearing fruit lately, with individuals like Cole Palmer and Moises Caicedo having established themselves as some of the best in the business.

In the last transfer window as well, the club focused on bringing in youngsters instead of going after proven players. They signed Joao Pedro, Liam Delap, Jamie Gittens, Alejandro Garnacho, alongside Ajax defender Jorrel Hato.

Well, it has not been too long since the summer window ended, but the Blues seem to be planning to already head back to Ajax for another of their players. According to London World, Chelsea are one of a number of Premier League clubs to be linked with Jorthy Mokio.

Mokio joined Ajax for free in 2024 from KAA Gent. At just 17 years of age, the youngster is already carving his space in their squad and has appeared in eight matches this season for the club. He has also appeared once for the Belgium national team.

The Belgian’s primary position is the defensive midfield role, but he can also operate in the centre-back and left-back positions just as fine. Enzo Maresca would surely love to have a player of that profile, especially after the recent injury setbacks to the club.

Indeed, Levi Colwill was sidelined even before the season officially kicked off and others like Tosin Adarabioyo, Benoit Badiashile and Romeo Lavia have also had their troubles lately. As a result, Mokio could serve as a perfect replacement in these situations.

Anyway, it won’t be an easy task to secure the player, especially with Chelsea having recently brought in Hato from Ajax. It is unlikely that the Dutch club would allow another one of their brightest talents to leave so soon, although a significant offer from the Blues might change their minds.
