It is no secret that Chelsea could do with another striker right now. They have struggled for someone who can score 20 goals a season since Diego Costa left the club. It had looked like they had finally fulfilled that search when Joao Pedro made a remarkable start to life at Stamford Bridge. But the Brazilian's form has declined badly. He can't even get a shot on target at the moment.
Liam Delap made his long-awaited return from injury in the game against Wolves. He was brought on as a substitute and then swiftly picked up two yellow cards, getting sent off as a result. Does that sound like the solution to Chelsea's problems?
Chelsea are set to sign Emmanuel Emegha from Strasbourg in the future with a deal already agreed. But it looks like they already have their eyes set on another one of the French club's strikers after the remarkable start he has enjoyed this season.
As reported by the Mirror, Chelsea are working on a deal to sign Joaquin Panichelli. He has also caught the eye of Barcelona and AC Milan.
Chelsea working on deal to sign Argentine goal machine
Panichelli came through the youth ranks at River Plate but moved to Alaves early in his career. He never scored a goal for them but did manage 21 goals and 8 assists last season while on loan at Mirandes.
That earned him a move to Strasbourg in the summer and he has not looked back since. He has scored 9 goals in 10 Ligue 1 appearances for the club. And he is scoring against the very best of the league.
Panichelli scored a brace in their 3-3 draw against PSG. Other than that, he has also scored against AS Monaco and Lyon.
So, it is not hard to understand why Chelsea want to sign the 23-year-old Argentine, who is one of the most in-form strikers in Europe right now. And considering the links between the two clubs, it would not be a surprise if an agreement is reached soon.
