With merely days left in the summer transfer window, and time has surely flown by, Chelsea need to get some deals done in time in order to improve their squad further. For weeks, they have been linked with moves for Xavi Simons and Alejandro Garnacho. The name of Fermin Lopez has cropped up as a potential signing in recent days as well. But none of those moves can be completed until they have sanctioned some exits first.
The departure of players like Nicolas Jackson and Christopher Nkunku could be key in unlocking those transfer signings. And it looks like the latter might be closing in on a move, finally.
Last night, we talked about how an agreement had been reached between Nkunku and AC Milan. Now, that has been confirmed by none other than Fabrizio Romano.
Romano confirmed this morning that the agreement on a five-year deal is done between AC Milan and Nkunku. Talks with Chelsea are now underway as well.
'Deal is done' - Fabrizio Romano drops Chelsea transfer update involving Nkunku and AC Milan
Nkunku leaving Chelsea would make sense for both parties at this point. The Frenchman has struggled to establish himself as a key player for the Blues during his two seasons in England and it might be time for a change in scenery. As for the club, it opens up transfer opportunities in the final days of the window.
Chelsea are should be clear about how they want to move in the final few days of the transfer window. There is no more time left to dwell on things and let sagas drag on.
There have been plenty of players in recent years who have left Chelsea to join AC Milan. Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Christian Pulisic and Fikayo Tomori fall under that category. Could Nkunku be next?
