Chelsea capped off their pre-season campaign in style with a 4-1 win over AC Milan. Joao Pedro found the back of the net once again, scoring a header from a beautiful Pedro Neto cross. On the other hand, Liam Delap found the back of the net twice. There was another promising performance from Estevao as well, this time coming off the bench and winning a spot kick for the Blues.
So, Chelsea have a lot to be happy about coming out of the AC Milan game. But it was not perfect day out in the sun either.
It appeared that Trevoh Chalobah had picked up an injury in the game against AC Milan. He needed medical attention and was subbed off immediately.
Naturally, there were worries, especially after Levi Colwill recently suffered a potentially season-ending injury. But there is some good news regarding Chalobah. As reported by The Standard, Enzo Maresca joked:
"[Chalobah] is ok. It was too hot, so he decided to go out."
Enzo Maresca confirms superb Chelsea news for Premier League opener
That's certainly a positive for Chelsea. They start their Premier League season against Crystal Palace next weekend. The Eagles are flying high at the moment, having won the Community Shield against Liverpool. So, the Blues will need to be at their best if they are to get a result.
There is some more good news for Chelsea though. It appears that Wesley Fofana will be available for the game against Crystal Palace as well. Maresca said about his status:
"He will be available for Palace.
“We are very happy because he is an important player."
Of course, Fofana did not play either pre-season game for Chelsea. And he has struggled with injuries throughout his time at Stamford Bridge, having made only 34 appearances in three seasons. So, do not expect to see him in the starting XI against Crystal Palace. It is important to ease him back into things and then hope that he is finally able to have an injury-free season.
