Enzo Maresca has broken his silence on his future following his exit from Chelsea.

The Italian was replaced by the inexperienced Liam Rosenior following BlueCo's decision to part ways with him at the start of the year.

Maresca has kept a low profile since he left the Stamford Bridge dugout in January but has now finally broken his silence on what could be in store for him next.

Enzo Maresca set to make return to management

Having spent time working at Palma and Leicester City before making the successful step up to Chelsea, Maresca is primed for another big job.

The Italian is tipped to succeed Pep Guardiola — a manager he worked under in 2022 — at Manchester City.

And discussing his future in a recent interview with Sky Sports (as quoted by Football Italia), the 46-year-old has revealed he's 'ready' to get back to work.

"I feel ready for the next chapter, that is the most important thing.

What matters, regardless of the club, is being ready. There are only a few weeks left until the end of the season, then we’ll see what happens."

During his 92 games in charge of Chelsea, which included beating PSG to lift last year's FIFA Club World Cup, Maresca averaged just shy of 2 points-per match.

He became a hugely popular figure not only with fans but also the players. Marc Cucurella admitted recently that the Blues 'paid the price' for allowing Maresca to leave.

And the Spanish full back wasn't wrong.

Chelsea's manager search intensifies as talks begin

Rosenior's 104 days in charge were a disaster. The 41-year-old is up there as one of the worst appointments with BlueCo now desperately searching for another permanent manager.

Oliver Glasner and Andoni Iraola — both of whom will leave their respective roles at Crystal Palace at Bournemouth — are among the candidates with the latter keen to continue in the Premier League.

Former Bayer Leverkusen and Real Madrid manager Xabi Alonso is viewed as the frontrunner for the vacant role, though. He is a serious contender to succeed Rosenior with BBC Sport recently revealing Chelsea have begun talks with the highly rated 44-year-old.

With Maresca looking nailed on to take over at the Etihad and Chelsea scrambling to find a suitable replacement, the last couple of weeks have continued to prove just how wrong BlueCo and their sporting department have got it.
