In recent weeks, quite a few players have been the subject of transfer rumours regarding a possible move to Chelsea. And Alejandro Garnacho has been one among those, with the Argentine almost certain to leave Manchester United this summer. However, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has now provided some new updates over this.
It is believed that Garnacho has been told by Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim that he was free to look for a new team. The Argentine, who is no longer in Man Utd's plans, has missed all pre-season first-team training sessions, while his future remains uncertain.
Although, the winger is not short of suitors, he has his preferences set. The 21-year-old wants to stay in the Premier League and play for a Champions League side, making Chelsea the favourites to sign him.
The Blues have been long-term admirers of the Argentine winger and just a couple of days ago, it was reported that after carrying out a series of background checks, Chelsea have no concerns over his attitude. So, where do they plan to go from here?
Fabrizio Romano reveals what Chelsea have told Alejandro Garnacho
While speaking on DAZN, Roman said about the Garnacho to Chelsea situation:
"Chelsea told Garnacho that they might come later in the window. So, this deal is advancing on player side, not yet club-to-club."
Romano clarified that we shouldn't expect any immediate progress on this transfer. Chelsea's objective right now is to complete the transfer of Xavi Simons from Leipzig while also parting with a number of players.
This makes sense, however, because the Blues have been actively pushing to sign Simons, and if they want to sign Garnacho as well, then they might have to part with some more players. However, they do aim to do that this summer, with names like Nicolas Jackson, Christopher Nkunku and more being linked with moves away.
If this transfer saga drags on for much longer, Manchester United would lose leverage as well. That could allow Chelsea to complete the deal for a bargain fee.
