Chelsea is not currently working on a transfer for Alexander Isak, despite reports that the Swede wants a move away from Newcastle United, claims Fabrizio Romano.
The transfer window just took yet another turn, which could have an insanely large ripple effect on the Premier League. Alexander Isak, one of the best strikers in the world, has decided that he wants to move away from Newcastle United this summer.
The Newcastle striker has been a complete revelation since he signed from Real Sociedad. Coming from the Spanish top flight, he has soon proven to be one of the most technically gifted goal-scorers in the world.
Fabrizio Romano throws wet blanket over Alexander Isak hopes
Despite the Alexander Isak rumor mill taking a serious turn in recent hours, Fabrizio Romano was quick to remind Chelsea fans to stay calm. At this point in time, Chelsea is not actively working on any deal to bring Isak to the club.
In his own words, Romano said: "Chelsea is not actively working on Alexander Isak deal and has no interest in proceeding despite reports."
Way to ruin the party, Fabrizio.
Chelsea fans probably had around an hour of hope - Could it be? Could the Blues be signing one of the most game-changing players available in the transfer window?
The answer is unfortunately no. The Blues are happy with their current options, and they won't be pursuing Isak under that mentality.
To really twist the knife, Romano said: "[Chelsea is] very happy with their strikers and fully focused on Xavi Simons and Jorrel Hato deals now."
Chelsea might regret letting Isak go to Liverpool
Not only is Alexander Isak not Chelsea bound, but he could be moving to the worst possible club, from Chelsea's perspective.
All of the signs are pointing towards Alexander Isak signing for Liverpool.
"The club working on Isak deal was, is and remains Liverpool." was the final nail in the coffin as far as Chelsea is concerned.
While there's no direct rivalry between Chelsea and Liverpool, Isak signing for the Reds would rubber-stamp their position at the top of the Premier League pecking order. Surely, with one of the world's best strikers, they'll be even more of an unstoppable force next season.
This directly works against Chelsea's objectives. While it might seem like an ambitious objective, the Blues should absolutely be aiming for the Premier League title next season. Enzo Maresca has instilled that winning feeling.
So, Chelsea not pursuing Alexander Isak makes little sense, especially when he could end up preventing Chelsea from winning the title next season.
