Chelsea seem to be on the lookout for a versatile player who is capable of featuring in the number 10 role as well as on the wing. The Blues were linked with Mohammed Kudus before he ended up at Tottenham Hotspur. Right now, Morgan Rogers of Aston Villa and Eberechi Eze of Crystal Palace have also been rumoured to be potential transfer targets.
Now, it looks like another similar profile of a player is set to be added to Chelsea's transfer wishlist. And in this case, it is someone believed to be actively looking to move this summer.
As reported by Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea and Arsenal are among the clubs attentive to Xavi Simons' situation this summer. The Dutch international is prepared to leave RB Leipzig. No bids or talks yet.
Back in April, it had been claimed that RB Leipzig would want a transfer fee in the region of €80 million to consider parting ways with Simons. It remains to be seen where that figure stands right now.
Fabrizio Romano confirms Chelsea interest in Dutch superstar
Simons is a regular at the international level for the Netherlands right now. He is also considered one of the top players in the Bundesliga. But with RB Leipzig failing to qualify for the Champions League, it is believed that the 22-year-old is keen to leave, despite having joined the German club permanently in January.
It remains to be seen what the future holds for Simons. Of course, there will always be an element of risk involved in signing a player for that kind of a transfer fee.
We have seen many struggle to adapt to the Premier League after enjoying stellar Bundesliga stints. Chelsea fans will know that well, having seen it unfold in front of their own eyes with Christopher Nkunku, Kai Havertz, Timo Werner and Jadon Sancho, to name a few.
