Under the new ownership, Chelsea have largely focused on bringing in the best young talents from all over the world. On a few occasions, it has worked out perfectly. On others, the results have not met the expectations. Yet, it looks like the Blues are not looking to move away from this approach and will continue to try and bring the best youngsters to Stamford Bridge.
One player they have been linked with in recent times is Kenan Yildiz of Juventus. In fact, some reports in Italy even suggested that Chelsea saw an offer for him turned down in the summer.
Yildiz has quickly become one of the faces of this Juventus team. And they seem to be focused on keeping him long-term, by handing him an extension.
Chelsea's interest in Yildiz does seem to be genuine though. As reported by Football FanCast, Fabrizio Romano said on his YouTube channel in Italian:
"“If Yildiz had wanted to move to the Premier League, I assure you he could have done so at the start of the transfer window.
“Chelsea have always been very interested, and the Premier League’s interest remains because Yildiz is a fantastic player, so it’s normal to see the attention of the big clubs.
“But Juventus, as I said, is working on a renewal and is optimistic; they want to reach a solution as soon as possible to ward off any other temptation for a champion like Kenan Yildiz."
Fabrizio Romano confirms Chelsea interest in signing world-class talent
Yildiz is certainly one of the brightest talents in the world right now. And it is believed that it would take a transfer fee in the region of €100 million to sign him from Juventus. It remains to be seen if Chelsea are willing to make an offer of that magnitude or not. To be honest, if you ask us, it feels more likely that he will end up extending his contract in Turin and continue his career there.
There are some other top players in Italy that Chelsea have also been linked with in recent weeks. One of them is Nico Paz. The Spaniard has scored 3 goals and provided 3 assists in the first five Serie A games of this season for Como FC. Real Madrid are believed to be the favourites to sign him next summer though.
A large section of the Chelsea support would also like to see the club tweak their strategy to a certain degree and bring in some senior and proven players as well. Let's see if that happens.
