All the talk surrounding Chelsea in recent days has been regarding their potential move for a centre-back. The club are believed to have agreed personal terms with Jeremy Jacquet, with the Frenchman keen on a move to Stamford Bridge. Agreeing a fee with Rennes might be a lot more difficult though, with the Ligue 1 side looking for a club-record fee.
At the same time, a lot of fans are concerned about spending a significant transfer fee on another unproven centre-back. Then again, their opinions have often been overlooked since the change of ownership, and by now, an apathy is starting to grow among large sections of the fanbase.
Anyways, coming back to the club's transfer activity. It is not just the incomings that they are working on. There could be some on the move this month as well.
As reported by Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea have recalled David Datro Fofana from loan as he is set for a new move in the next few days or weeks. They are working on a permanent exit for the striker.
Fabrizio Romano confirms Chelsea's move for striker
Datro Fofana is another example of Chelsea's failed transfer strategy. The striker was signed with high hopes from Molde but has never even scored a single goal for the Blues.
Instead, he has spent most of his time out on loan, and now, he looks set for a permanent exit. He was in good form out on loan in Turkey, scoring 8 goals in 15 games. So, if Chelsea are lucky, they might be able to bring in a decent transfer fee.
There is believed to be interest in signing Datro Fofana, both in England and across Europe, including at Celtic. Let's wait and see what the future holds for the striker. One would imagine that Chelsea would not have gone ahead and recalled him if they were not certain that they could find him a new home over the next couple of weeks. It is unlikely that they view him as someone who will contribute to Liam Rosenior's playing XI.
