Chelsea have already said goodbye to plenty of players in the ongoing summer transfer window and there could be plenty more to come before it closes. The most high-profile departures have been those of Noni Madueke and Djordje Petrovic. And we could witness another exit of that magnitude soon with top clubs interested.

Chelsea have done a great job in recent years when it comes to signing players for low transfer fees and then moving them on for higher figures. That is not something you expect from the Blues but they have quietly been very smart about their business lately.

Last summer, Chelsea signed Renato Veiga for a transfer fee believed to be in the region of £12 million. A year later, he could move for a significantly larger figure despite never being a starter for the Blues. That is genius.

As reported by Fabrizio Romano, Renato Veiga is expected to leave Chelsea this summer with a permanent move anticipated since June. Atletico Madrid, Bayern Munich and Premier League clubs are all in the race to sign him. The Blues want a package over €40m.

Veiga spent the first half of last season at Chelsea and looked solid whenever given a chance. Marc Cucurella was simply better than him at left-back though and Levi Colwlll seems to be the future in the left centre-back role.

So, Veiga left in the winter in search of starting opportunities and ended up getting them on loan at Juventus. He was a regular starter for the Italian giants in the second half of the season and that has seen his transfer valuation skyrocket.

Of course, there are many who would argue that Chelsea should give a chance to Veiga since they already need another centre-back. On the other hand, there are those who believe that the time is right to part ways with his transfer valuation at its peak.
