Chelsea's deadline day business must have disappointed most of the supporters. There would have been hopes that a move for Fermin Lopez would work out. But it did not. There had been some whispers about Nicolas Jackson leaving permanently, which did happen on a loan plus obligation to buy deal with Bayern Munich, and a replacement being brought in for him. But no striker was signed by the Blues.

They officially announced the arrival of Facundo Buonanotte but that had been agreed a few days back. And to be honest, it was not a move that excited fans after missing out on Xavi Simons to Tottenham Hotspur.

On the other hand, there were plenty of departures. It looked like Tyrique George was set to join neighbours, Fulham, in a £22 million deal plus a sell-on clause. But it looks like that has now collapsed.

As reported by Fabrizio Romano, George will stay at Chelsea and will be part of the Champions League squad. The deal with Fulham collapsed last minute.

It is unclear why the George deal collapsed. But at least, he gives Chelsea another option. Something that they might be missing right now through injuries.

We saw it on display at the weekend. Liam Delap was injured and George was brought on. Of course, that was not the ideal situation but he did a job and Chelsea won the game.

Chelsea have brought back Marc Guiu, ending his loan with Sunderland. But is the former Barcelona striker ready to compete for the number 9 role? Most probably not. Also, he has had his injury problems as well. So, George staying on could prove to be brilliant for the Blues in the long run under the current circumstances, although his long-term future remains in doubt and probably lies away from Stamford Bridge. Let's see how it goes.
