Chelsea have been busy strengthening their squad ahead of next season. The club have already brought in players like Liam Delap, Joao Pedro, and Jamie Gittens. However, they are looking for a new centre-back and have surprisingly been linked with midfielders as well recently, despite their depth in that area of the pitch.

Earlier, it was reported that Chelsea are working on two new deals behind the scenes, one for Ajax defender Jorrel Hato and another for RB Leipzig’s versatile midfielder Xavi Simons. And if rumours are to be believed, it looks like Blues fans could be set for some exciting news soon.

Fabrizio Romano has posted that Chelsea maintain confidence to sign both players. Negotiations continue with Ajax after an agreement with Hato on a contract last week, and it is seen as a matter of time. On the other hand, Simons wants the Blues and talks with RB Leipzig are underway on the final fee and structure of the deal.

Thus, it looks like both deals are progressing even though we might not be getting frequent updates. Let's see how things transpire from here.

Chelsea confident to sign both Jorrel Hato and Xavi Simons

The Dutch international duo fits Chelsea’s policy of signing highly-rated youngsters and would give Enzo Maresca a significant tactical advantage upon their arrival due to their versatility. Hato can operate both as a left-back and a centre-back, providing much-needed backup for Marc Cucurella as well as reinforcement in the heart of the defence.

Meanwhile, Simons is capable of playing higher up the pitch, primarily as a number 10, but he can also perform well on either wing. As a result, he could give the manager the option to rest Cole Palmer from time to time, as well as provide another option on the flanks.

So far, indications suggest that Chelsea will be able to get both deals over the line. However, until that officially happens, fans will have to wait and watch patiently.
