Chelsea finished the season in fourth place, securing a Champions League spot, and also won the Conference League trophy. To top it all off, the Blues also went on to be crowned the best team in the world as they lifted the Club World Cup by defeating current European champions Paris Saint-Germain in an unexpectedly one-sided contest.

Meanwhile, Newcastle United ended their last campaign in the Premier League a spot behind Chelsea, ensuring qualification for the Champions League in back-to-back seasons, which is impressive. However, the Magpies are currently facing a huge challenge with Alexander Isak exploring his options.

As a result, Newcastle United are actively looking to bring in a replacement for the Swedish international, and it looks like they have their eye on a Chelsea forward as one of the candidates. The Daily Mail recently reported that the Magpies have added Nicolas Jackson to their list of transfer targets.

Despite being Chelsea's primary striker last season, Jackson will have to compete for his place going forward, as the Blues have brought in Joao Pedro and Liam Delap as reinforcements in the striker position. The Brazilian has already impressed with his performances at the Club World Cup, and the Englishman is also settling in well.

Although Jackson has shown promise from time to time, he has largely failed to live up to the expectations. There's also the issue of the Senegal international losing his cool on some occasions, resulting in red cards that have significantly impacted Chelsea.

Incidentally, one of those red cards came against Newcastle United last season and the Blues ended up losing 2-0. So a move away cannot be ruled out, although Enzo Maresca is believed to be a fan of the player.

The next few weeks will be key in determining Jackson’s future. The pre-season friendlies might provide a clearer picture of the role of the 24-year-old striker In the squad. But until then, we have to wait and watch. It is believed that Chelsea will want a transfer fee in the region of €100 million.
