Even a few days back, there were barely any rumours linking Xavi Simons with a move to Chelsea. But pretty much out of nowhere, he now looks like the most likely candidate to be the Blues' next signing this summer. That is just how quickly things can change in the transfer market. Will Enzo Maresca's side add the Dutch international to their ranks in this window? We might find that out very soon.

Simons is believed to be keen on leaving RB Leipzig. It was just earlier this year that he joined the club on a permanent basis but having seen them fail to qualify for the UEFA Champions League, he appears to be ready for a change of scenery already.

Clubs like Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur have also been linked with Simons. But it looks like Chelsea are the favourites to land his signature. At least that is what the latest reports suggest.

As reported by Fabrizio Romano, Simons has opened doors to a Chelsea move after direct contacts with his camp. Club-to-club talks will start from Tuesday as the two teams will discuss deal conditions. For the Blues, it depends on outgoings.

For a long time, Simons has been regarded as one of the top talents in world football, going back to his youth days at Barcelona. So far, we have seen glimpses of his quality although it feels like there might still be a few more gears to his game.

At 22 years of age, he already has plenty of time to discover them. But even right now, he is a phenomenal talent who can make an impact on Chelsea.

When it comes to Chelsea's recent transfer policy, Simons ticks pretty much every box that they look for. So, do not be surprised if you see him in royal blue very soon.
