Chelsea appear to have pulled off a masterstroke by signing Joao Pedro. While plenty had raised their eyebrows at the move, the Brazilian forward looks absolutely like the real deal, having scored three goals in two starts so far and playing a vital role in the club's Club World Cup triumph in the United States, scoring a world-class brace in the semi-final and a delightful chip in the final.

Liam Delap has shown flashes of quality as well and brings something very different to the table. On the other hand, we are yet to see Jamie Gittens in action but he has a lot of brilliant qualities, which can serve Enzo Maresca's side well if they translate to the Premier League.

Chelsea are not expected to stop there though. What are the next signings that the Blues have on their minds?

Well, it looks like Fabrizio Romano has provided the answer to that question. It looks like Chelsea might looking to add another forward alongside a centre-back. The Italian journalist told DAZN:

"Chelsea want to keep going on the market. My understanding is Chelsea are currently discussing several options for new attacker, this is because there is a concrete possibility both Nicolas Jackson and Christopher Nkunku leave this summer.

“Then, Chelsea are also discussing one more centre back internally."

Both of those are areas where Chelsea could do with reinforcements. Fans will be a lot more confident after seeing Pedro's performances but that does not mean that the Blues do not need further depth, especially if Jackson or Nkunku or both, end up leaving this summer.

On the other hand, centre-back is an area of need as well. Admittedly, both Levi Colwill and Trevoh Chalobah have done well in recent months. Tosin Adarabioyo and Benoit Badiashile are decent backup options as well. But one feels that if Chelsea are able to bring in a top-quality option there, someone like Marc Guehi, it could take this team to the next level.

It remains to be seen what signings Chelsea do end up making this summer. The big-money exits and the earnings from the Club World Cup should help them in this regard.
