There has been plenty of news regarding bans for Chelsea fans to read recently. Of course, Mykhailo Mudryk was suspended in December of last year and now, there are suggestions that he could be banned for as many as four years. It remains to be seen how this entire thing plays out and whether the Ukrainian has any future at Stamford Bridge at the end of it.
Mudryk is not the only one associated with the club who has found himself in trouble lately. A former Chelsea midfielder could be out of football for the next five years as well.
As reported by The Mirror, Geremi has been banned from football for five years by the Cameroonian FA. Following his retirement, he became the head of Cameroon's players' union Synafoc and during the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, he reportedly ended up having a dressing room confrontation with an official of Fecafoot. The country's football association has now announced his ban from the game.
The statement from Fecafoot announcing Geremi's ban read:
"We declare Geremi Sorel Njitap, the president of Synafoc, guilty of breaking the behaviour rules of our code of ethics.
"We sentence him to a ban from all forms of football activity for five years, and to a fine of 10 million West African francs [£13,000]. He has 10 days to submit a written appeal."

Samuel Eto'o is currently the president of the Cameroonian Football Federation. He is a former teammate of Geremi, and incidentally, also played for Chelsea. Both of them are joint-second for most appearances for their national team.
Geremi had quite a playing career. Of course, Chelsea fans remember him for his spell at Stamford Bridge. He made more than 100 appearances for the club and won a couple of Premier League titles, the first two under the management of Jose Mourinho.
Before that, he had a spell at Real Madrid. There, he won a couple of Champions League titles as well as La Liga. So, there is no doubt that he will go down as one of the all-time greats in Cameroonian football.
