The transfer window has entered its final month, and Chelsea are looking to finalise the remaining business that needs to be done this summer. On the arrivals front, they are pushing to bring in Xavi Simons, having already signed his international teammate Jorrel Hato earlier this summer. Alejandro Garnacho is believed to be a target as well.
Meanwhile, on the departures side, there is still plenty of work to be done, despite a significant number of players having already left. Christopher Nkunku, Renato Veiga, Axel Disasi, and Ben Chilwell, who were all expected to move on by now, have yet to find new clubs.
Kiernan Dewsburg-Hall is wanted by Everton, who have made a transfer bid already. There has been speculation about Tyrique George as well, who seemingly wants more game time.
Now, reports claim that another Chelsea player could potentially join that list. According to TeamTalk, several clubs from France and Italy have already begun to show concrete interest in signing David Datro Fofana. Key developments are expected in the coming days and contacts with some of these clubs have already begun. Enzo Maresca is open to parting with him if a suitable offer arrives.
Chelsea ready to part ways with David Datro Fofana for the right offer
Fofana joined Chelsea in 2023 from Molde FK. Since then, he has been sent on loan to various clubs, namely Union Berlin, Burnley, and Goztepe. But the Ivory Coast international has failed to reach the heights expected of him. The 22-year-old has managed just four appearances for the Blues so far, and it looks like that number is unlikely to increase.
Chelsea are well-covered up top for next season following the acquisitions of Liam Delap and Joao Pedro this summer. Both players have already shown glimpses of their capabilities at the Club World Cup, especially the Brazilian, who scored three goals in as many matches, including a chipped finish over Gianluigi Donnarumma in the final against PSG.
Fofana still has a lot of football left in his career, but at this moment, he isn’t likely to get many opportunities at Chelsea and doesn’t feature in Maresca’s plans. A move could help him revive his form and reach his true potential.
