The wait is finally over. Chelsea have successfully secured a deal to bring their first signing of the summer transfer window as Fabrizio Romano has given his signature “Here we go” to the long-awaited deal. Of course, they had already signed Liam Delap in the special window before the Club World Cup.
The Blues suffered from a lack of reliable left-wingers last season as Mykhailo Murdyk has been suspended for the foreseeable future while Jordan Sancho had a subpar campaign and has returned to Manchester United. On the other hand, Raheem Sterling has failed to impress since leaving Manchester City and does not seem to have any future at Stamford Bridge.
As a result, Chelsea had prioritised the strengthening of the position since the beginning of the summer. And the club may have just found themselves a long-term solution to their problems.
The Blues have finally agreed a deal with Borussia Dortmund for Gittens. Fabrizio Romano has confirmed the news, alongside several other reliable sources.

Fabrizio Romano confirms Chelsea's first summer signing
Chelsea have signed Gittens on a long-term deal, which will be effective until 2032. It has been reported in the French media that the transfer fee is believed to be around €65 million.
A lot of fans might not realise but Gittens is set for a homecoming, having already played for Chelsea very early in his youth career. Interestingly, the youngster has also been a part of the Manchester City academy before moving to Borussia Dortmund.
In the past few years, Chelsea have brought in a number of former Manchester City academy players, including Cole Palmer, Tosin Adarabioyo and Delap as well. Enzo Maresca was also their coach at one point.
Chelsea will breathe a sigh of relief as the club have patiently worked to take this deal over the finish line, despite repeated rejections from Dortmund. With the left winger now secured, the Blues can focus on the rest of the positions which need reinforcements, especially a centre-back, a versatile striker and a goalkeeper.
