After crashing out of the Champions League at the Last 16 stage earlier this week, and being three points adrift in the Premier League's race for the top four, Chelsea could have less than 10 games left to save their season.
Losing 8-2 on aggregate to PSG in the Champions League and being downed 1-0 by Newcastle in the league last time out, the Blues' campaign hangs in the balance.
There is still a chance the side could go on to lift silverware as they prepare for an FA Cup quarter-final against Port Vale next month, though, but confidence in head coach Liam Rosenior is fading fast.
Rosenior replaced former manager Enzo Maresca at the start of the year. His style and approach are vastly different from those of his Italian predecessor, and that has sparked widespread criticism from fanbases, including Chelsea's own.
Consequently, despite Rosenior being in his head coach role for less than three months, there are whispers he could be sacked before the start of next season. But how does the club's ownership feel about continuing with the 41-year-old?
Chelsea owners backing Liam Rosenior despite mounting criticism
Undoubtedly under pressure, Rosenior knows he must oversee a strong finish to the season. Not only do Chelsea have several players currently out injured, but Enzo Fernandez's recent exit comments have left the former Strasbourg boss with his work cut out.
However, irrespective of the side's untimely slump, according to the Daily Mail, the Chelsea ownership, led by US billionaire Todd Boehly, remain fully committed to Rosenior.
Although certain to demand an improvement in performances, and results, Chelsea's hierarchy are not believed to be close to pulling the trigger. Instead, as things stand, they're willing to honour the terms of Rosenior's deal, which runs until 2032, and is rumoured to be worth £4 million-per year.
How the Chelsea squad feel about Rosenior confirms BlueCo's position
Rosenior has been the subject of intense mocking, particularly for his comment comparing 'managing' with 'men coming of age' and passing handwritten notes to his players with just a few minutes to play while they trailed by six goals against PSG.
However, despite the negativity currently surrounding the club, it has been reported that the Chelsea head coach retains his squad's full backing.
Hearing how much confidence those working with Rosenior have in him is surprising considering the turmoil behind the scenes, which has been fuelled by speculation a player, or member of staff, are deliberately leaking inside information to the media, including lineups, ahead of time.
Nevertheless, with Rosenior still in the infancy of his tenure, some fans might feel relieved to see BlueCo willing to give the 41-year-old a chance to prove his critics wrong.
