News broke pretty much out of nowhere that BlueCo had reached an agreement to sign Julio Ensigo. He was set to join Strasbourg but the long-term plan was believed to be for him to end up at Chelsea next summer. But it appears that the transfer saga has now taken an unexpected twist that not many would have expected.

The Paraguayan international has shown flashes of brilliance during his time at Brighton & Hove Albion. But at the same time, he has struggled with injuries and a recent loss of form as well. That saw him end up out on loan at Ipswich Town and now, it looks like his spell with the Seagulls is coming to an end altogether.

Perhaps it was a matter of miscommunication but a lot of reliable sources reported that Enciso was going to join Chelsea next summer. But now, it appears that that is not something that is set in stone.

As reported by The Chelsea Chronicle, Graeme Bailey said regarding the Enciso transfer:

"BlueCo love Enciso and have persuaded the player to move to Strasbourg first. I am told that Chelsea insist there is no promise of a move to Stamford Bridge – however, like with every player within the structure, if they play well then they will get a chance.

“Enciso is happy to take on that challenge and he more than thinks he is good enough – so a big 12 months coming for him in France. But at €20m – BlueCo think this is a great deal for the organisation."

So, it appears that a move to Chelsea might depend on how Enciso does at Strasbourg. Of course, that is pretty much the case with every player at the Ligue 1 side right now, whether for good or bad.

Let's see how things play out for the Paraguayan international in France. There is no doubt that he is a phenomenal talent and one capable of being a top player. That being said, he needs to prove that on a consistent basis.

As for Chelsea, the focus must be on ending this summer transfer window strongly. They still have their eyes set on players like Xavi Simons and Alejandro Garnacho but need to conclude exits first. On the other hand, perhaps it would be worth trying to sign another centre-back as well, following Levi Colwill's injury. A big couple of weeks ahead for the Blues.
