With less than two weeks left in the transfer window, Chelsea will look to put the finishing touches in what has been a successful summer for them. They have brought in Liam Delap, Joao Pedro, Jamie Gittens and Jorrel Hato, while Estevao and Dario Essugo have completed their moves to Stamford Bridge as well. Of course, a lot of youth is coming in and they will need time to adjust. But it is plenty of potential as well. If things click, this could be the start of something special.
Of course, Chelsea are not done yet. The feeling is that they want to sign a few more players. They are believed to have been working on deals for Xavi Simons and Alejandro Garnacho for a little while now. The fans are hoping that a centre-back is added as well following Levi Colwill's injury.
For those signings to be made, Chelsea will need to complete some departures first. Renato Veiga seems to be headed to Villarreal. And now, another centre-back is in talks with a Premier League.
As reported by Sacha Tavolieri, Bournemouth have started club-to-club talks with Chelsea for Axel Disasi. This is for a loan with an option to buy. The Cherries are also in talks with the player.
Premier League club open talks to sign €45m Chelsea player
Bournemouth have lost a lot of key players this summer. That includes two centre-backs, Dean Huijsen and Illia Zabarnyi, both of whom were linked with Chelsea at one point in time. So, it is not hard to understand why they might be keen on signing a player like Disasi, who is experienced, a leader and available.
Chelsea had signed Disasi for a transfer fee believed to be in the region of €45 million from Bournemouth. He played a decent bit under the management of Mauricio Pochettino but has not been able to establish himself since Enzo Maresca's arrival.
It remains to be seen if Bournemouth can agree a loan deal to sign Disasi. Chelsea's first preference is believed to be a permanent move but with that seeming unlikely at this stage in the window, they are expected to give a thought to a temporary exit as the Frenchman does not seem to have a place in Maresca's plans.
If two centre-backs leave Chelsea in quick succession, it would raise expectations for the club to sign a central defender. The media briefing has been that they are happy with their options at centre-back but judging from Maresca's comments since Colwill's injury, it is very clear that he wants someone to be brought in before the window ends.
