Chelsea have had one of the most eventful transfer windows in recent times, this summer. They have signed a significant number of players, including Liam Delap, Joao Pedro, Jamie Gittens, and Jorrel Hato. Additionally, the club is also pursuing Xavi Simons and Alejandro Garnacho with both of these deals expected to be completed in the upcoming weeks.

However, a number of players have also departed the club, including Noni Madueke, Joao Felix, Kepa Arrizabalaga, Djordje Petrovic, and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall. Despite just two weeks remaining in the transfer window, that list is expected to grow.

On that note, a Chelsea player has recently attracted interest from a La Liga club. According to Fabrizio Romano, Villarreal have sent a formal bid to Chelsea for Renato Veiga. However, it falls short of the Blues' expectations. The Portuguese defender is keen on the move, but it might be difficult for the two clubs to find an agreement.

The Portuguese international spent the second half of last season on loan at Juventus and nailed down a regular spot there. Some fans were expecting that Chelsea would change their minds regarding the player and opt not to part with him, especially after the recent injury suffered by Levi Colwill. However, that doesn’t seem to be the case.

Veiga has been looking for a Chelsea exit for quite some time now. Earlier, Atletico Madrid appeared as a possible destination for the player, but they have gone on and signed David Hancko, putting an end to that chapter. But the Portuguese international could still move to Spain if a deal is reached with Villarreal.

All things considered, Veiga’s time at Chelsea seems to be coming to an end after arriving at Stamford Bridge just last season. Apart from Villarreal, Borussia Dortmund is another possible destination for the player.

It remains to be seen if the Blues decide to bring someone new after the Portuguese’s departure or continue with the rest of their defensive lineup. There have been some claims that adding another centre-back could lead to Josh Acheampong's exit, which Chelsea are believed to be keen to avoid.
