Liam Rosenior could be about to expose true extent of BlueCo's incompetence

Chelsea will be counting down the days until the end of the season.

The side haven't scored a single goal in any of their last five Premier League matches and have slipped to seventh in the Premier League table as a result.

Dumped out of the Champions League by PSG last month, their only saving grace could be beating Leeds United later this week to reach the FA Cup final where they would play either Southampton or Manchester City.

Time is running out for Liam Rosenior, though.

Chelsea in talks to sack Liam Rosenior before FA Cup semi final

The side's latest hammering, which saw them battered 3-0 away to Brighton on Tuesday, has put the Chelsea head coach under immense pressure.

Goals from Ferdi Kadioglu, Jack Hinselwood and Danny Welbeck in front of a packed AMEX crowd sealed the result and ensured all three points would be staying on the south coast.

The aftermath of Tuesday's game wasn't pretty, though. Rosenior was quick to put the blame on his players with Trevoh Chalobah the first to fire back in defence of himself and his teammates.

And following a turbulent 24 hours, a fresh report from Sky Sports' Kaveh Solhekol claims BlueCo are now in talks over Rosenior's future and may sack him before this weekend's FA Cup semi final.

Should Chelsea's ownership pull the trigger on Rosenior, he would become the third manager after Enzo Maresca and Calum McFarlane to leave the role this season.

BlueCo could be forced to pay Rosenior an eye-watering payout

Not only was Rosenior offered the chance to replace Maresca at the start of the year, but he was offered a six year contract.

Believed to earn around £4 million-per year, as per The Sun, the 41-year-old's deal is a big one, and Chelsea's potential decision to sack him after just a few months would make it even more significant as they could be forced to part with £24 million.

Few will disagree that Rosenior should never have been given the Chelsea manager's role, but it's important to remember why he accepted it.

Taking the Stamford Bridge hot seat is a potentially career-defining opportunity and one that doesn't come around too often, if at all.

No one blames the former Hull City defender for backing himself to do a good job, but big questions must be asked of BlueCo and how they've allowed it to come to this, especially when it looks like the club are going to have to part with another eight figure compensation sum.
