Chelsea's Trevoh Chalobah is the first to fire back at Liam Rosenior

Chelsea's abysmal run continued against Brighton and Hove Albion on Tuesday.

Goals from Ferdi Kadioglu, Jack Hinselwood and Danny Welbeck saw the Blues battered 3-0. The defeat is now the side's fifth in a row in the Premier League.

Making matters worse, not only have Chelsea failed to score a single goal in all of their last five league games, but another eye-opening stat emerged at full-time at the AMEX Stadium.

The Blues have been outrun by all of their domestic opponents this season. You heard that right — aside from Chelsea, no other team in the Premier League have been outrun more than 19 times this campaign. Shocking!

The nature of his team's collapse saw Liam Rosenior lay into the players in a way fans had not yet seen. The 41-year-old labelled the Blues' performance as 'indefensible' and 'unacceptable' claiming 'the general attitude, spirit and determination was lacking'.

Despite Rosenior's savage words, there is at least one Chelsea player who disagrees, though, and he's been the first to break his silence following his head coach's brutal assessment.

Trevoh Chalobah disagrees with some of Liam Rosenior's criticism

Chalobah started and finished the full 90 minutes against Brighton and Hove Albion.

The 26-year-old had a poor game, but so did everyone else. He refused to admit his teammates didn't give it their all though.

The centre-back, who spoke to Sky Sports after the match, believed the Blues' latest shocking performance had 'nothing to do with effort'.

"I think the boys were running their socks off. If you look in the dressing room, everyone is tired. It’s nothing to do with effort. We gave it our all. We got beat today.

We ran today. The stats are stats. The boys are tired."

Chalobah's comments will be a major concern for BlueCo, who would've watched on as Rosenior took a far less forgiving stance at full time.

Only one outcome possible at Chelsea and it won't be pretty

Although Chelsea's owners have remained loyal to Rosenior up to this point, it feels like we're approaching a point of no return.

It is clear the players are not 100 per cent behind the 41-year-old and they are definitely not buying into his ideas.

Champions League qualification is now a distant memory, but the side still have a chance of playing in an UEFA competition next season, but only if they turn things around right now. There is simply no more room for error.

There is also a small matter of an FA Cup semi final at Wembley against Leeds United on the horizon. Chelsea's entire season could come down to this one game and their form leading up to it could not be any worse.

While BlueCo are unlikely to cut Rosenior loose days before a semi final, failure to book a spot in the final will almost certainly see the Chelsea head coach shown the door, albeit with a nice payout.
