Marc Cucurella's recent rant hasn't gone down well behind the scenes at Chelsea but the left-back has managed to avoid the same fate as one of his teammates.

Cucurella went public with his dismay at how the club is being run, most notably BlueCo's decision to get rid of Enzo Maresca at the start of the year.

The left-back appeared to question the club's vision which has led to Atletico Madrid feeling more optimistic about a summer transfer.

And while transfer speculation is the least of Liam Rosenior's worries at the moment, the Chelsea head coach was still 'disappointed' with the 27-year-old's comments.

Liam Rosenior reveals exactly what he told Marc Cucurella following left-back's shock interview

Undoubtedly juggling a lot, Rosenior could do without his players going to the press and adding their two cents to what is already a tough period.

Addressing the media himself ahead of Chelsea's FA Cup quarter final against Port Vale on Sunday — a game Enzo Fernandez has been dropped for following his own recent remarks — Rosenior explained to Sky Sports exactly what he said to Cucurella in his office on Thursday.

"[I had a] fantastic conversation with Marc yesterday. Half an hour in my office.

The disappointing thing for me, what we're trying to create here in my time, I've only been here for three months.

I've said to them [the players] from day one, if they've got any issue with how we do things, to come and speak to me, and speak to the sporting directors.

My disappointment in Marc's interview is where it went to. I think he should have spoken to us first about the things that he's feeling. I want players to feel like they can speak openly and honestly for the benefit of the football club."

Unlike Fernandez, who will miss the Port Vale clash as well as Manchester City's trip to Stamford Bridge next week, Cucurella will be available for selection.

Differing punishments could hint at Chelsea's willingness to sell Enzo Fernandez

You can argue over which player made the more shocking comments, but one thing is for sure, they both used the media — knowing full well the impact their words would have — to their advantage.

While Fernandez's transfer talk is certainly for his personal benefit, Cucurella's public criticism of the club's ownership is a very bad look indeed.

For Rosenior to hand one player a two game sanction but not the other isn't consistent and will probably raise eyebrows in the Fernandez camp.

It is possible the club are balancing Cucurella's retrospective talking to with his importance to the team as well as their long term future plans for him.

It could be a very different story for Fernandez, though, who, should a £100 million offer come in, looks increasingly likely to move on in the summer.
