Chelsea face their biggest challenge of the season so far. The Blues must overturn a three goal deficilt against PSG if they're to remain in the Champions League.
Liam Rosenior and his side travelled to the Parc des Princes last week and suffered a damaging 5-2 defeat. Now preparing for the second-leg on home soil on Tuesday night, Chelsea must do the almost-impossible.
If the mountain to climb wasn't already massive, the Blues must attempt to get the better of Luis Enrique's side without the help of some of their best players.
Reece James, who recently signed a new six-year contract, is unavailable after suffering a hamstring injury against Newcastle United last week.
Worryingly, Rosenior has also revealed that in addition to his captain he might also be without his second choice right-back.
Malo Gusto a doubt for Chelsea against PSG
Malo Gusto would have almost certainly started against PSG in place of the injured James but illness could keep the Frenchman sidelined too.
Speaking to Chelsea's official website on Monday, Rosenior confirmed Gusto faces a race against time to be fit enough to play against the reigning Champions League champions.
"Elsewhere, Malo [Gusto] is ill today [Monday]. We’ll have a look at him for tomorrow and make a call on him.
"
In addition to James, and now potentially Gusto, Chelsea are also without Levi Colwill, Filip Jorgensen and Jamie Gittens.
There is a glimmer of hope that Estevao could make his long-awaited return on Tuesday at Stamford Brigde though.
Liam Rosenior confirms Estevao close to making return
Estevao has been sidelined since the end of January after he injured his thigh in the latter stages of Chelsea's 3-2 Premier League win over West Ham.
However, revealing the maverick Brazilian is pushing to make his return against PSG, Rosenior confirmed the winger is back training with the squad and is in contention to make his final matchday squad.
"Estevao is back in training. He will be part of the group and we’ll assess whether he can take part in the game at some point tomorrow."
While Estevao cannot be expected to win the game by himself, his proposed return will be a major boost.
The 18-year-old, who is still in his first season, has been a shining light. He has already reached double figures for direct goal contributions and whenever he's on the pitch there is genuine hope he can produce a moment of magic.
