Chelsea are the Club World Cup winners, bringing an end to a marathon season. Now, the players should get some well-deserved rest before returning for another big campaign. This triumph has raised the expectations surrounding Enzo Maresca's side and they will be expected put up a challenge for the Premier League from here.
Chelsea have already made quite a few top additions this summer, with Joao Pedro already proving his importance to this team. And with the cash boost coming from the Club World Cup, more signings are expected.
On the other hand, there are quite a few players who could be headed for the exit door. Liverpool seem to be interested in one of them.
As reported by L'Equipe (via Chelsea News), Liverpool are monitoring the situation of Christopher Nkunku. The Blues would want around £35m to part ways with the French forward.
Liverpool interested in Chelsea player after Club World Cup win
Nkunku has never really settled in at Chelsea since joining the club in the summer of 2023. But he did make a positive contribution in the recent triumph in the United States and there is little doubt about his quality.
Liverpool are not the only top club believed to be keeping an eye out on Nkunku. The likes of Manchester United, Bayern Munich and several others are said to be interested in the French international as well.
Chelsea had shelled out a transfer fee in the region of £52 million to sign him from RB Leipzig but now seem to be willing to part ways for a fraction of that figure. And considering the level of clubs interested in him, they should not be interested in drawing offers around that area.
Let's see what the future holds for Nkunku. It does feel like it lies away from Stamford Bridge. But never say never.
