Man United fans won't love what Alejandro Garnacho said about Chelsea transfer

Chelsea may be on the back of two poor results, losing to Leeds United and then drawing to Bournemouth. These results have seen the Blues go from being dark horses for the Premier League title to now being eight points behind the leaders, Arsenal.

However, Alejandro Garnacho's mood at the club has not dimmed. He was quoted by Fabrizio Romano on X, saying, "Joining Chelsea project was an easy decision. I came here to play my football, to show people the player I am. Sometimes in life, you have to change things to take a step forward. It was the right moment and the right club."

Often, players are quite neutral when talking about the transfers they have made. However, Garnacho is saying the opposite as to how difficult it was to leave Manchester United. He came through the ranks at United after playing youth soccer for Getafe and Atletico Madrid.

Despite being born in Spain and growing up there, he only represented their national side at the U18 level. As his mother is from Argentina, he played for their U20s before making eight appearances for La Albiceleste's senior team.

Alejandro Garnacho still has a long way to go

Garnacho's last cap for Argentina came last year. He appears very happy at Stamford Bridge, but he could do with more goal contributions. In 14 games in all competitions for the Blues, Garnacho has scored just twice and made two assists. This needs to improve if he is to earn a recall to Lionel Scaloni's roster.

The player is only 21, but has now already represented two of the biggest Premier League sides. Last night, as United defeated Wolverhampton Wanderers 4-1, Garnacho may have been wondering what contribution he might have made had he stayed at Old Trafford.

Many players look miserable at United, but go on to flourish elsewhere. Marcus Rashford looks great at Barcelona this season, and Antony has been reinvigorated since joining Real Betis. Garnacho is another who struggled at United.

Garnacho's antics, which included not always seeing eye-to-eye with either Erik ten Hag or Ruben Amorim, meant his position at Old Trafford became untenable. The player's social media activity also did not help his cause. Since he joined Chelsea, Garnacho has so far stayed clear of bad headlines. Perhaps leaving United was a wake-up call for him, and credit must also go to his new manager, Enzo Maresca.
