Chelsea are believed to be looking to make some more signings this summer. But right now, it appears that they are letting things drag on. Of course, the players in question are believed to be keen on joining the Blues. But there is always the risk that other teams could swoop in and try to change their minds. In fact, it looks like Manchester City might be trying to do just that.

While Chelsea got the deal over the line for Jorrel Hato quickly, the same cannot be said about his Dutch international teammate Xavi Simons. That deal seems to be moving at a much slower pace.

The belief is that Chelsea need to part ways with some players first before they can make a move for Simons. And now, there is a very worrying update on the transfer situation.

As reported by Sacha Tavolieri, Manchester City have entered the race for Simons. With the likely departure of Savinho, the Citizens have reestablished contact with super agent Ali Barat. On Chelsea's side, talks are still on.

It would be safe to say that Manchester City are very good when it comes to getting deals done. So, their involvement in the race for Simons is a worry for Chelsea for sure. The player is believed to be keen on the move to Stamford Bridge, but it does not take too long for things to change in football.

Simons is a signing that Chelsea might need as well, as a cover option for Cole Palmer. Joao Felix has already joined Al-Nassr while Christopher Nkunku is expected to leave as well. So, that is a player profile the Blues will miss.

It remains to be seen how things play out in the Simons saga, now that Manchester City have joined the race. It certainly got a lot more interesting, that is for sure.
