This could be one of the busiest summer transfer windows for Premier League teams in recent memory. Of course, Chelsea are always busy. On the other hand, Manchester City are coming off their worst campaign in recent memory. Liverpool might have lifted the title but they've already added Jeremie Frimpong and are looking to sign Florian Wirtz and Milos Kerkez as well. Arsenal still need a striker. And Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur finished 15th and 17th, respectively.
So, the traditional Big Six will be looking to make additions, probably plenty of them, this summer. One area where Manchester City need to strengthen is right-back.
They need to find a replacement for Kyle Walker. And it looks like a former Chelsea player has caught their sights in this regard.
As reported by TBR Football, Manchester City believe they can sign Tino Livramento from Newcastle United. They are ready to offer £40 million for him.
Manchester City ready to make £40m bid for former Chelsea player
Livramento came through the youth ranks at Chelsea and was highly regarded. But with Reece James at the club, he decided to move early in his career rather than wait for his chance to come.
Livramento joined Southampton, spent a couple of years there, and then moved to Newcastle United. There, he has established himself as one of the best full-backs in the Premier League and even become a full England international.
So, it is not hard to understand why Manchester City might be keen to sign the former Chelsea ace. But Newcastle United have a proven record of keeping the players that they do not want to part ways with. It does not feel like Livramento is someone they would want to say goodbye to anytime soon, with Champions League football secured and Eddie Howe's team on the rise.
