The summer transfer window just closed in England, and it is still open in several other countries across the globe. But there are already rumours about moves that Premier League clubs could in January. And it appears that Manchester United have their eyes set on one of Chelsea's highly-rated players.

Chelsea have made significant investments on their squad since the change in ownership. That has brought about a decent bit of success lately, but so far, we have not seen them compete for the Premier League or the Champions League. That has to be the next step in this project.

Injuries have been a key reason behind Chelsea's struggles in recent years. Often times, key players are sidelined and that ends up having a negative impact on the Blues' season.

Romeo Lavia is someone who falls under that category. A phenomenal talent without a doubt but someone who simply has not been able to remain fit for any consistent length of time.

Injury problems might not be enough to deter Ruben Amorim's side though. As reported by Miguel Delaney (via Shoot), Manchester United could make a move to sign Lavia in January.

Now, nobody has any doubts about Lavia's quality as a midfielder. Many would argue that when everybody is fit and available, he is part of Chelsea's strongest starting XI. That being said, availability is the best quality for any player. And he simply is not providing that right now. So, if Manchester United end up making a significant offer, the Blues would have to weigh it for sure.

Since joining Chelsea in a £58 million deal from Southampton, Lavia has only featured 23 times for the Blues. He is currently out with another injury. Let's just hope that he is able to remain fit for a consistent length of time once he returns from this one.

No Chelsea fan would want to see such a talent leave the club. That being said, sometimes, hard decisions need to be made. If Lavia's injuries don't improve, it would only be a matter of time before he is on his way out of Stamford Bridge.
