Nicolas Jackson sulks as Chelsea battle amid significant contract news
Join us as we round up the latest most important midweek Chelsea stories. First of all, let's talk about the talented yet seemingly immature Nicolas Jackson. The striker is attaining many plaudits, along with winning over more fans than he lost last season. The Senegal international is undoubtedly a high calibre attacker, one who is definitely skilled enough to be a Premier League starter for a solid club.
However, Jackson has his drawbacks too. He is actually doing some things that have the negative potential to turn supporters and, even his own teammates, against him. But what was Jackson recorded doing when substituted after a weaker-than-usual performance versus English capital rivals Tottenham Hotspur? And should this strange behaviour be a cause for concern for the west London fan base and bosses? Or is this temperamental footballer just a troubled genius who will mature, as well as being one CFC should persevere with?
In addition to covering that topic, there is another pressing Blues matter at hand. One particularly notable up-and-coming Blue was recently informed by the club that he wouldn't play for Chels while his contract negotiations were active. Although, talks are supposedly progressing for the young talent. Now Enzo Maresca, the CFC manager, has validated some information about the defensive prospect. So, what's the word on the 18-year-old whom the Italian says he and Chelsea Football Club "love"?
Josh Acheampong news
Acheampong joins a number of youngsters in the Blues squad to face Astana in the Europa Conference League on Thursday evening in Kazakhstan. Harrison Murray-Campbell, Kaiden Wilson, Harrison McMahon, Kiano Dyer, Richard Olise, Samuel Rak-Sakyi, Ato Ampah, Max Merrick and Shim Mheuka were named.
And the slightly more well-known Tyrique George is among the starlets present with senior stars too. Acheampong is apparently included because his new deal is almost settled. Maresca provided details on the highly rated central defender/full back/wing back:
"Enzo Maresca has revealed Chelsea are "close" to resolving Josh Acheampong's contract situation with the defender set to start against Astana on Thursday."

Nicolas Jackson controversy
It's hard to write this because Jackson's displays in 2024/25 have proven a few writers, such as myself, wrong. Nevertheless, he has a way to go regarding maturity, as I see it.
As you can see by clicking the above video, Jackson wasn't happy when hooked against Spurs. Maybe something else is going on in the striker's head; I do hope his mental health is alright at present. Although if he was just upset with his boss's decision, he'd be best served to just keep his feelings private.
That way he would not affect his teammates either - especially whilst they still had a crucial match to win! My hope does remain for Jackson, though, as he recently exhibited the most astute conduct towards at risk colleague Enzo Fernandez.
