We occasionally take the time to put Chelsea speculation to rest to reassure the Blues fan base. Today is one of those days. This time the subject of our attention is CFC and England superstar Cole Palmer. Some people thought the playmaker endured a slow start to the contemporary campaign. I didn't really buy into that view. And, without hesitation or delay, the ex-Manchester City starlet has once again swiftly shown why he is arguably the hottest up-and-coming footballer on the planet.
Palmer's quick ascension in the Premier League, and beyond whilst playing with the Three Lions at Euro 2024, has led to an enormous profile within the game. So much so that you can bet your bottom dollar that the world's preeminent clubs are monitoring or drooling over the prospect of signing him in the not too distant future. The latest superclub to be linked with the west London side's star is Real Madrid. The Spanish giants are referenced in a transfer rumour doing the rounds. But is this chat about Cole Palmer fake news, in fact? Or should Chels supporters begin panicking as los Blancos circle? So, what's the latest? Let's see.
Why the most recent Cole Palmer transfer talk is probably a load of unsubstantiated rubbish that the Chelsea support should ignore
"England forward Cole Palmer, 22, is drawing attention from Real Madrid because of his consistent performances at Chelsea. (Fichajes - in Spanish)"BBC Sport
Let's start by establishing the fact that every single football club would love to sign Palmer. Just think of poor old Pep Guardiola and what he lost. 'You don't know what you've got 'til it's gone' comes to mind.
Next up is Palmer's contract - and this is hugely significant in dismissing the quoted rumour above. He extended his Chelsea deal by two years in the summer. Do you know how long the agreement is? Almost another nine years, expiring in 2033.
Essentially, Real would feasibly have to break the current global transfer record to secure Palmer. And as we've previously witnessed, CFC are no mugs, at least not financially. Furthermore the Blues hierarchy won't sell, or won't want or have to offload the 22-year-old.
The originators of the conjecture at hand are also not always right, to be polite. Fichajes, a news outlet in Spain, don't have the most glittering reputation. Regarding footballing information, it is not considered a top source. Its authenticity score on Football Whispers is 2.5/5.
