With less than a week left in the summer transfer window, Chelsea do not have a lot of time left on their hands to get deals done but they appear to have ambitious plans regardless. The Blues are still aiming to sign Alejandro Garnacho from Manchester United and Xavi Simons from RB Leipzig. But in order to make those moves happen, they will need to say goodbye to a few of their current players first.

A lot has been made about the futures of Christopher Nkunku and Nicolas Jackson. But there are other players leaving the club as well.

One of them has now officially made the move. As reported by Chelsea on their website, Carney Chukwuemeka has completed a permanent move to Borussia Dortmund.

It was always anticipated that Chukwuemeka would end up leaving the club this summer. The destination was what was uncertain. And now, he is back at Borussia Dortmund, where he spent time out on loan in the previous campaign.

When Chelsea signed Chukwuemeka, it was considered a major coup. At points, he was linked with clubs like Barcelona and Real Madrid. And at one point, it did look like he had a real chance of being a starter for the Blues, when Mauricio Pochettino arrived as manager.

Chukwuemeka would end up getting injured early in that season though. By the time he was back, Cole Palmer had established himself as a starter for the Blues and the rest is history.

That does not mean that Chukwuemeka is not a top talent. He clearly did well enough for Borussia Dortmund to go out and sign him on a permanent basis. The club have a brilliant record developing players and one would hope they are able to do that with the Englishman as well.
