Chelsea are constantly active when it comes to signing players, even more so when it comes to talented youngsters from all around the world. It is hard to keep up for even the most devoted of fans and a lot of the time, some moves can go under the radar. One such player has completed a permanent move away from Stamford Bridge, just five months after his arrival.

It was last February that Chelsea had signed Mathis Amougou in a €15 million transfer from St Etienne. He was clearly highly regarded by the Blues, considering he was handed an eight-year deal.

But just five months later, Amougou is no longer a Chelsea player. He will remain under the BlueCo umbrella though, as he has completed a permanent transfer to Strasbourg.

Strasbourg have announced the signing of Amougou. He has signed a five-year contract with the Ligue 1 side.

During his time at Chelsea, Amougou had made a couple of appearances for the Blues. But it is very clear that he was not going to get a lot of playing time ahead of some of the other more established names in the middle of the park.

So, the expectation was always for him to leave this summer. While most had expected to see him leave on loan, he has joined Strasbourg on a permanent basis.

This comes at a time when Strasbourg have seen Habib Diarra join Sunderland in a club-record deal. On the other hand, Andrey Santos has returned to Chelsea at the end of his loan spell. So someone like Amougou could be a solid addition for them.

As for Chelsea, Amougou remains at Strasbourg. And if he does end up enjoying a breakout at Strasbourg, there is the chance to bring him back in the future.
