It would be safe to say that Chelsea's transfer policy since the change in ownership has divided the opinion of the footballing world. In recent times, we have seen some signs of positivity with the Club World Cup triumph and positive results against top teams like PSG, Barcelona and Liverpool. It might have taken a while but the Blues can compete once again.

That being said, Chelsea have signed far too many players who are not good enough. It has not only prevented them from competing in the present but in the future as well due to budget constraints as a direct result of making so many signings.

This summer, the club parted ways with Noni Madueke to sign Jamie Gittens. While the former Chelsea winger has earned a lot of positive reviews since joining Arsenal, the ex-Borussia Dortmund man seems a bit lost at Stamford Bridge.

He was handed a start in the game against Cardiff City this week. But Gittens could not even make an impression against a lower league side, and a large section of the fanbase seem to be already giving up on him making it at Chelsea.

One Chelsea fan wrote regarding Gittens: "Gittens has to be one of the worst players I’ve ever seen at the club. Can’t dribble, can’t cross, extremely lazy off the ball as well."

He was not the only one with such a sentiment, as one more fan added: "Gittens might actually be the worst footballer I’ve ever seen at my club."

Another said: "Joe Shields really encouraged a ‘data led’ recruitment policy to spend £55 million on Gittens."

It would be safe to say that Gittens has had a rough start to life at Chelsea. Of course, there have been bright sparks here and there. But overall, he has been extremely disappointing.

Perhaps that should not come as a surprise. Gittens was struggling to make the Borussia Dortmund starting XI before Chelsea signed him. And since joining the Blues, we have seen a footballer who seems somewhat unsure of himself and does not look like he belongs at this level.
