Chelsea have successfully completed the majority of their transfer requirements for this summer. They have signed Liam Delap, Joao Pedro, Jamie Gittens, and Jorrel Hato. Additionally, the clubs are advancing well to complete two more deals, the long-awaited ones of Xavi Simons and Alejandro Garnacho.

Meanwhile, Chelsea are also focusing on handing their established players improved long-term contracts. This will ensure stability and deter potential suitors from trying to sign the club's top performers.

On that note, Chelsea seem to have taken a major step in the right direction by agreeing a contract extension with one of their best players, and arguably one of the best in world football in his position. We are talking about none other than Marc Cucurella.

According to BBC, when asked by Spanish media at the London Stadium, Cucurella said:

""Yes, it's done. We already did it.

"I'm very happy, the club gave me the confidence and I'm very happy to be here. Hopefully I will have a great year."

Marc Cucurella has agreed contract extension with Chelsea

Cucurella joined Chelsea in 2022 and has gone on to establish himself as one of the best in his position. So there’s little doubt that this news will be welcomed by the Blues fans.

Cucurella was outstanding last season, making as many as 54 appearances while scoring seven goals and providing four assists. The Spanish full-back received widespread praise for his performances in the Club World Cup, especially in the final against PSG, where he effectively contained players like Desire Doue and Ousmane Dembele, ensuring a 3-0 victory against the Champions League holders.

Cucurella is currently one of the undisputed starters in Enzo Maresca’s squad. His previous deal was set to run until the summer of 2028, but with this extension, that duration is expected to be pushed further, although the terms are yet to be disclosed.

Chelsea haven’t made an official announcement as of now, but the player's confirmation suggests the deal is already done. And if last season was any indication to go by, the Blues have just locked down one of their key players for the foreseeable future.
