Chelsea have reportedly open talks to sign a £65m-valued international midfielder. The Pride of London give our thoughts on a potential deal. In addition to covering that story, PoL comment as Blues centreback Thiago Silva apparently chooses his next team. Let's hope it's not an English capital club!

Chelsea legend Thiago Silva to join Brazilian outfit Fluminense, according to multiple reports circulating

I must admit, last week I did for this site that I didn't believe for one second that a man like Thiago would go to a rival of Chelsea. That was just my opinion, and it seems to have been vindicated. You see, the former Brazil star is leaving Stamford Bridge this summer, as was confirmed last week. Blues supporters were very sad to hear and see an emotional Silva announce his exit. He will be missed.

Although, I can't help but think that the decision is most probably best for all involved. I'll explain why. At 39, he was certainly a veteran and stalwart at the back for the west London side. And CFC did need some experience in their massively inexperienced and often immature starting lineup. Although, due to Mauricio Pochettino trying to forge an identity for the contemporary Chelsea, maybe it will be beneficial to have a youthful centreback pairing going forward.

Maybe Silva could have stayed on as a tutor as well as an understudy on the substitute's bench. Yet he wants to play on; the fast-paced Premier League was surely becoming difficult for him to manage. Hopefully he enjoys his time in the Campeonato Brasileiro Série A, at a more leisurely pace.

Chelsea open talks with expensive midfielder - report

Georgiy Sudakov is said to be on the Chels' transfer radar. That's the latest rumour hot off the presses, so we hear. There are some really impressive aspects of the Ukraine player's game which could perfectly gel with the unfinished Blues XI. First of all, I think Mykhailo Mudryk could become deadly with the right management and teammates. Sudakov just so happens to be a close friend of the CFC man. Element like these could bring out Mudryk's true self.

Yet Sudakov, at only 21, potentially has a lot to offer at the top level as well. The exciting athlete is both footed, to start with a great bonus skill. The attacking midfielder could occupy a No.10 role and offer more goal returns than some existing Blues. Not to mention that he has Champions League experience.
