Fabrizio Romano on Chelsea scouting mission and the real reason Casadei returned

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has confirmed some details of an apparent Chelsea scouting mission. Meanwhile The Pride of London speak on the supposedly true reason why young Blues midfielder Cesare Casadei's loan to Leicester City ended and he returned to Stamford Bridge. And PoL assess the record ahead of Chelsea's second leg vs Middlesbrough with a League Cup Final on the table. CFC are 1-0 down on aggregate following the first tie.

The reports of Chelsea being interested in Jean-Clair Todibo are back. But this time Fabrizio Romano has weighed in on the matter. First of all, I am unsure the club really need another talented up-and-coming centreback; Todibo is actually 24, but you get the point. Chels' already have many youthful senior professionals in that area.

Unless Benoit Badiashile leaves, which isn't a certainty at all right now, I do not envision the OGC Nice man arriving at CFC. However, a £52million price-tag would likely not deter Blues ownership nor the recruitment department. The renowned Italian journalist suggests that Chelsea have been scouting the Cayenne, French Guiana-born man. Romano claims negotiations aren't yet underway, nevertheless.

Let's move on to Casadei now. The onetime Foxes loanee is back at CFC - but why? Well, you might perhaps be able to guess. With Romeo Lavia and Lesley Ugochukwu injured, there is a peripheral place for the 21-year-old.

You probably won't be surprised to learn that the west Londoners have been triumphant in nine - yes, that is 9 - of the previous 10 meetings with the Boro in all competitions. Wow. That is quite the omen for both sides. The largest margin of victory for CFC over that spell was 5-0 in 2008. PoL expect the Blues to turn it around at the Bridge on Tuesday.
