After leaving Leicester City for Chelsea, manager Enzo Maresca has continued his ruthless start in west London. The new Blues boss has apparently made a decision on winger Noni Madueke's future at the club. This resolution emerges in spite of the Englishman's insistence that he is 'the answer' for Maresca on the right wing. Will the 22-year-old still be at Stamford Bridge come the start of the 2024/25 season?
Two other CFC players, one more high profile than the other, are on the Italian's chopping board as well. Where will centre back Trevoh Chalobah and central midfielder Cesare Casadei end up in the next campaign? Premier League and Italian sides are supposedly interested in taking the pair, respectively.
Trevoh Chalobah and Cesare Casadei didn't make the cut at Chelsea Football Club
Following Chalobah's heroics towards the culmination of the previous term, many people assumed the defender would get another chance to truly make his mark by establishing himself at Chelsea. Now age 25, and clearly competent at English top-flight level, Chalobah must be a starter somewhere.
I think that status at CFC is a stretch for the Freetown, Sierra Leone-born man. He would, though, be a more than adequate squad player. One who would feature or even start in some FA Cup and Europa Conference League games. He'd certainly begin League Cup matches if he were a rotational footballer on Fulham Road, as previous.
However, it appears as though Maresca does not wish to have the useful player on his CFC roster at all. Or, more likely, I suspect Chalobah has rejected a less than prominent role.
Either way, it is now reported that Chalobah is in fact up for sale. Obviously being left behind as the group travelled to the United States for the preseason tour will have definitely swayed the professional, if he were undecided.
Chalobah's price tag is apparently around the £25-30 million mark. Casadei is also unwanted at the Bridge. He has attracted reported attention from Serie A.
Is Noni Madueke leaving the Blues?
While Madueke has publicly committed himself to Chels', Maresca might not want him either. Newcastle United have ostensibly agreed personal terms with the forward.
The Blues attacker is now the 'most likely' to join the Magpies from all targets befitting the right-hand side. Ironically, Eddie Howe's team missed out on Micheal Olise too. Cole Palmer's rise is said to have affected CFC's verdict.
