It's time to appraise every single Chelsea Football Club signing from the now closed transfer market of summer 2024. There were many Blues incomings and outgoings over the offseason, continuing when the campaign got underway. But this article focuses on the new crop of players in west London. Even at this early stage, which fresh faces have stood out amongst senior CFC stars? And are any prospects or big-money acquisitions already seemingly costly mistakes or otherwise after only a handful of appearances?
Every new Chelsea signing of 2024/25 so far
First of all, I think making my stance on the Blues' most recent business after a couple of years of enduring a rather strange approach at Stamford Bridge. I don't think the two divided ownership groups did enough to support Maresca in a funding sense.
The 44-year-old required requisite funding in order to develop his own team, a reflection of himself and his methods. One cannot achieve what a club such as CFC desires unless mega money is provided so to stock the side with world-class leaders in their positions.
This didn't happen on Fulham Road. A marquee striker didn't arrive. Several high profile wingers and similar playmakers were even unnecessarily acquired; with only one senior star exiting under unhappy circumstances. Oh, and the former Leicester City boss had one mere vote amidst more powerful influences behind the scenes at the Bridge. All this makes Maresca's task more difficult, not easier.
Scoring the Blues additions
Tosin Adarabioyo 7/10
The centre back played 20 times for Fulham in the Premier League last season. So he is experienced; he was also a free transfer, boosting his rating here.
Nevertheless, Adarabioyo is simply seen as a squad rotation player or backup man at Chelsea. This negates his score because of quality, or a lack thereof.
Adarabioyo was described as 'missing' when conceding for one of his two CFC appearances so far. His debut efforts received higher praised.
Marc Guiu 7/10
I am only going to score promising young footballers who have been retained and not loaned or lowered by Maresca. And Guiu does stand out in spite of nerves when occasionally appearing thus far.
Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall 6/10
Another talented understudy. I would say that the Blues' centre midfield department is saturated.
Renato Veiga 7.5/10
Clearly liked by his gaffer, expect to see more of the left back as the campaign develops.
Pedro Neto 8/10
I rate Neto. Literally! Even though there's a plethora of Chels' wingmen, you can't help but be optimistic over the ex-Wolverhampton Wanderers star's potential.
Joao Felix 7/10
Felix would have probably been given a greater grade, yet I really want Cole Palmer to be deployed centrally.
Jadon Sancho 5/10
Such an unneeded signing, in my opinion. Hopefully he proves me wrong for the club's prosperity.
