Chelsea and Xabi Alonso will want to unleash their attacking talent against Hull City, with their form and quality expected to be enough to secure three points on Saturday.
After the 6-3 victory over Leeds United brought winners and losers, the manager will be looking for a more complete performance with goals aplenty.
However, the Premier League newcomers have already shown they are genuine contenders for survival, picking up seven points and keeping three clean sheets. So, will Morgan Rogers or Cole Palmer be the player to finally break that impressive defensive record, or will someone else step up for Chelsea?
Predicted XI against Hull City:
GK: Emi Martinez
Martinez will return in goal after Mike Penders had a shaky midweek performance. The Argentine will be looking for an improvement in his own performances and will be hoping to finally claim his first clean sheet in a Chelsea shirt.
CB: Josh Acheampong
Three games in a week should pose no problem for this youngster, who continues to impress despite playing in a struggling back three. His consistency has also seen many fans call for him to start ahead of Wesley Fofana on a regular basis.
CB: Maxence Lacroix
The powerhouse of the three will need to be in good form to prevent Oli McBurnie from impressing.
CB: Levi Colwill
Returned against Leeds United in midweek but was substituted late on, seemingly as a precaution. I wouldn’t be surprised to see him drop to the bench for this one, with Jorrel Hato likely to replace him and Pep Chavarria coming into the team on the left.
RWB: Pedro Neto
Showed his attacking quality against Arsenal and Leeds this week, and will be wanting to build on that goal on Wednesday. Soon becoming Chelsea’s unsung hero.
DM: Reece James
Better suited to this position than the wing-back role, with the captain expected to partner Moisés Caicedo for the season.
DM: Romeo Lavia
Valentin Barco impressed going forward in midweek, but Romeo Lavia will come in and provide the defensive solidity Chelsea need right now.
LWB: Jorrel Hato
Still think he is a better option than Pep Chavarria with the Spaniard yet up to the pace of English football. Hato offers more defensively out of the two.
AM: Cole Palmer
A genius of football and I’m predicting Palmer will be the double assist man in this game to allow for Rogers to get his goals and MOTM award.
AM: Morgan Rogers
Everything has been said in the previous. The new signing will be on the hunt for goals and will get them against Hull.
ST: Joao Pedro
Earned his recall to the Brazil team and will show what he is capable of by leading the line
