The injury situation at Chelsea has been concerning since before the start of the season. Levi Colwill's ACL injury made it a lot tougher for their defence, and we have seen them struggle at the back without the Englishman. On the other hand, Cole Palmer has been dealing with a groin injury as well, which has restricted him to just a handful of appearances.

There are some familiar names on that injury list as well. One of them is that of Romeo Lavia, who has spent the majority of his time on the sidelines since arriving at Chelsea in the summer of 2023 from Southampton.

Lavia is a talent for sure. But he simply cannot remain fit. And it looks like he is set for another spell on the sidelines with his latest issue.

As reported by Nizaar Kinsella, Lavia is set to miss at least a month of action. It is a due to a quadriceps injury.

It is time that Chelsea start thinking about the long-term future of Lavia at the club. At this point in time, it seems that he simply cannot stay fit for any consistent length of time. It is unfortunate because he has the talent to be a phenomenal player. But that will never happen if these injuries continue to derail his career.

There have been some rumours linking Lavia with an exit in recent times. If a substantial offer comes in, Chelsea do need to consider it.

At the same time, Chelsea also need to consider the idea of signing another midfielder to take some of the pressure off the shoulders of Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez. Andrey Santos has done that at times, but the Blues need another option with the ability to play a similar role.

Dario Essugo could have been that player. He looked very similar to Caicedo stylistically during his pre-season appearances. But unfortunately, he was injured while out on international duty and needed to undergo surgery. So, he might not even feature in 2025 again.
