Transfer business is picking up pace at Chelsea. In recent weeks, they have completed the signing of Joao Pedro, who made his mark at the Club World Cup with a brace in the semi-finals against Fluminense. Jamie Gittens has also arrived from Borussia Dortmund and more signings could be on the way over the coming weeks and months.
On the other hand, there are players heading for the exit door as well. One of them is seemingly Noni Madueke, who is drawing interest from Arsenal.
The English winger has been a key part of this Chelsea team for a while now. But with Pedro Neto establishing himself as the first-choice on the wing and Estevao coming in after the Club World Cup, this might be the right time for the Blues to part ways with Madueke. Especially, since it looks like Arsenal are willing to shell out a signiificant transfer fee to sign him,
As reported by Fabrizio Romano, Arsenal have submitted an initial bid for Madueke of around a £50m package, add-ons included. Chelsea want more than £50m fixed as Anthony Elanga and similar deals remain their reference. There is a good relationship between the clubs as talks continue and the player himself has agreed terms with Mikel Arteta's side already.
'Submitted initial bid' - Fabrizio Romano drops Chelsea transfer news
Considering the offer that Arsenal have already made, one would imagine that the two clubs will be able to work out a plan that would see them bridge the gap that exists between their transfer valuations of Madueke. Do not be surprised to see him wearing a red jersey soon.
Madueke has proven to be a solid player for Chelsea. But perhaps his development has not met the club's expectations.
Also, one cannot overlook the fact that Chelsea were recently handed a fine by UEFA. They need to sanction some transfer exits.
