Chelsea have reinforced their squad this summer with the signing of Liam Delap, Jamie Gittens and Joao Pedro. On top of that, Estevao is also set to join soon. However, the club's transfer activity is far from over as they are still in search of a reliable centre-back and possibly a new goalkeeper as well. On the other hand, the club is also looking to offload some players to balance their books and make space for the new arrivals.
Christopher Nkunku, Joao Felix, Noni Madueke are all expected to leave the club in this transfer window. In addition to these departures, another player who will most likely be on the way out is Axel Disasi.
The French international was brought in from Monaco for a fee of €45 million in 2023 and was a regular in his debut season under Mauricio Pochettino. But he has failed to get regular playing time since the appointment of Enzo Maresca, who has preferred to rely on others for the centre-back role.
In February this year, he was sent on loan to Aston Villa, but they are unwilling to sign him on a permanent basis. However, Chelsea should not have a problem finding a new home for Disasi as multiple clubs have already registered their interest in the player.
Newcastle United want to sign Chelsea player this summer
According to Fabrice Hawkins, Villareal contacted Disasi and negotiations are ongoing. Newcastle United also keep an eye on him and other Premier League and Italian clubs are monitoring him. He is expected to leave this summer and Chelsea will want a fee around €30m.
Chelsea are themselves searching for a new centre-back and are already being linked with a number of potential candidates. Unfortunately, Disasi has failed to make the required impact to stay at the club.
Despite the French international’s availability, he was left out of the Club World Cup squad that travelled to USA. As a result, it’s quite clear that parting ways would be best for all parties involved. Let's see how it all unfolds.
