Trevoh Chalobah was not happy with criticism he received online following Chelsea's recent FA Cup semi final victory over Leeds United.
The 26-year-old was named in Calum McFarlane's defensive backline alongside Tosin Adarabioyo with the pair helping to keep a clean sheet on the way to a 1-0 win at Wembley.
Last weekend's result has secured the Blues' spot in next month's showpiece final where they will attempt to beat Manchester City for the first time in half a decade.
The importance of reaching the FA Cup final following what has been an otherwise disappointing campaign saw the Chelsea players overcome with emotion and passion.
Trevoh Chalobah fires back at suggestions he'll leave Chelsea soon
Trevoh Chalobah was one of the Blues' most animated players at Wembley. The centre back was seen shushing the travelling Leeds United fans during his team's full time celebrations.
However, as relayed by the Express, Chalobah's actions drew praise, and criticism, from fans online.
In response to the defender's antics, one supporter said: “Trevoh Chalobah shushing Leeds fans. You love to see it, up the Chels".
But another fan added: “He needs to relax he's going there next season,” suggesting he isn't good enough to continue at Stamford Bridge beyond this season.
It was at this point Chelsea's number 23 had his say. Quoting the supporters' comment, Chalobah said: “Na you need for relax, even your shadow no believe you.”
Clearly triggered, Chalobah was quick to quash any suggestion he'll be leaving West London anytime soon.
Unusual to see a player react to online trolling but understandable why
Players from every club receive an obscene amount of criticism on a daily basis. Even the best have to suck up toxic negativity, but it isn't every day you see a player respond. That's exactly what Chalobah did, though, and it's understandable why.
He was excellent against Leeds United and had every right to savour the moment. His performance at the heart of Chelsea's defence could end up propelling the club to their ninth FA Cup, and that's something to feel proud of.
Regardless of if he ends up seeing out his contract, which doesn't expire until 2028, is sold before then or stays for the rest of his career, reaching the FA Cup is not something every player achieves in their career.
Chalobah's Wembley actions at full time were totally justified. No doubt he'd suffered a tsunami of heckles from opposition fans throughout, so let's allow him his moment and not diminish his chances of continuing as an important first team player.
