This summer, it looks like Chelsea are intent on parting with players who do not have a place in Enzo Maresca's plans. We have already seen plenty depart, including Noni Madueke and Djordje Petrovic, two good enough to be involved in the first-team on any given day. And it looks like there could be more departures to come before this transfer window closes.
One area that could be set for a revamp this summer is centre-back. Chelsea have been linked with names like Marc Guehi, Jorrel Hato, Jarrad Branthwaite and more over the past few months.
On the other hand, there are plenty who could be heading in the opposite direction as well. One such name is that of Axel Disasi, who Chelsea signed for a transfer fee in the region of €45 million from AS Monaco a couple of years back.
Disasi was a consistent contributor during Mauricio Pochettino's time as manager of Chelsea but has not featured much under Maresca. In fact, he spent the second half of last season out on loan. Could another temporary exit be on the cards in the near future?
Villarreal will reportedly make offer for Chelsea defender today
As reported by L'Equipe, Villarreal are expected to make a loan offer for Disasi this Tuesday to begin negotiations with the Blues. The English club would like a permanent transfer.
It remains to be seen whether Chelsea are willing to sanction another loan move for Disasi. If they do, it will probably be later in the window, if it becomes clear that a satisfactory permanent offer won't arrive at their table.
Let's see what the future holds. For now, Disasi is a Chelsea player. But for how much longer? That is the question we need an answer to. And if he does leave, where will he end up next?
